This talk was given from the stage at Andy Stanley's church, to a room mostly full of employers and managers over 45. He says himself he's no prophet — just someone who's spent years listening to young people.
三層風暴 A storm in three layers
"I believe there is a storm coming and it's not Gen Z, but it's the next five to ten years of reality that we have in the workplace."
他說，風暴分三層：年輕人不再想做傳統的入門工作——每8個Z世代就有1個已經靠社群媒體賺錢；這一代人口本來就少了兩千一百萬，78%連從軍資格都不符合；不到十年內，美國65歲以上人口會超過16歲以下——這是史上第一次。他要的不是恐慌，是清醒。He says the storm has three layers: young people no longer want traditional entry-level jobs — one in eight Gen Zers has already monetized social media; the generation is 21 million smaller, and 78% don't even qualify for military service; within a decade, Americans over 65 will outnumber those under 16 — something that's never happened before. What he was after wasn't panic. It was clarity.

Houston turned to twenty-something interns from Purdue, MIT and other schools, who ended up teaching the senior engineers how to run the new equipment. By July 1969, the average age of the operators in Mission Control was 27. When an unexpected computer alarm went off during the lunar descent, the person who called "go" — letting Armstrong actually step onto the moon — was Jack Garman, 23, one year out of college.
"We didn't know what we didn't know, but we were so glad they trust us."
"I think our age actually helped us. The older [ones] were saying, I don't know if we should do it... and the young people said, let's do it, let's do it, let's do it."

他快講完時，說了朋友泰瑞莎在Zoom裡對他說的一句話：Near the end, he shared something his friend Teresa said to him on a call:
"Generation Z is the sandpaper on my leadership. I did not know I needed."
整場演講最後一句，他沒有留給年輕人交代任務，是留給自己和台下的人一句請求：His very last words weren't instructions for the young. They were a request, aimed at himself and the room:
"If I can just talk heart to heart, person to person, we've got to get this right. They are the future. I need some sandpaper. Let's get this right."
他站在快五十年職涯的位置，最容易講的是「你們要怎麼做」。他選的是「我需要被磨」。Standing where he stood, nearly fifty years into a career, the easiest thing to say would have been "here's what you need to do." What he chose instead was "I need to be sharpened."
